What does the future of engine technology hold? Forty journalists from around the world had the chance to find out at the first edition of FPT Industrial Tech Day. FPT Industrial, the CNH Industrial brand that designs and manufactures powertrains, surprised the audience at the event held in Turin, Italy with the unveiling of the Cursor 13 NG, the most powerful 100% natural gas engine available on the market today.
Tech Day underlined the important transformation that FPT Industrial has begun: a process of decarbonization that will lead to a green and sustainable future.
“Natural gas is the cleanest and most virtuous thermal engine fuel. Its technology is well-tested, ready for the market and produces environmental benefits right now, not just for tomorrow. We have adopted natural gas across thousands of vans and trucks. And now we are the first to introduce this technology for agricultural applications as well,” said Annalisa Stupenengo, FPT Industrial Brand President.
For over 20 years, FPT Industrial has demonstrated its efforts in Natural Gas, selling more than 30,000 engines for buses, trucks and now for prototype tractors with the launch of the Methane Power Concept from New Holland Agriculture. The new Cursor 13 Natural Gas promises to be a real catalyst for change in its field. But how will it do that?

“The Cursor 13 is the most powerful engine fueled with Natural gas available on the market today. It is developed with some of our most advanced patented technologies. This engine provides significantly lower emission levels compared to its Diesel equivalent, reaching zero CO2 when it’s fueled with biomethane. At the same time, the engine decreases noise pollution, proving to be the best choice for the present and the future,” commented Pierpaolo Biffali, Head of Product Engineering at FPT Industrial.
Designed in Turin, Italy and manufactured in the brand’s Bourbon-Lancy plant in France, the launch of the new engine proved to be a high point for what was a very informative and intensive day.
