LUGANO, Switzerland - (May 27, 2008) - Case IH, a global leader in the agricultural equipment part of CNH (NYSE:CNH) and Fiat Group (FIA.MI), recently presented the Puma tractor at the Nampo Show held in Bothaville, South Africa, displaying this unit for the first time at an African agricultural show.
The Nampo, held from May 13-16, 2008, is one of the largest privately organised and owned exhibitions in the world and the largest show of agricultural machinery and livestock in the southern hemisphere, counting this year more than 500 exhibitors, spread over 24 hectares and with a demonstration area of 80 hectares.
Case IH was present at the show through its long partnership with Northmec, the oldest distributor of agricultural equipment in Africa dating back to 1869. Case IH, which has powered agriculture for more than 160 years, and Northmec were displaying on more than 2,400 square metres the Puma and the Patriot sprayer together with all the best novelties marked Case IH.
Puma series is all about efficiency. With four models, ranging from 167 to 213 horsepower, Puma tractors provide the right amount of power for primary tillage, cultivation, drilling and transport. Whether it is spring or autumn cash crop work or pulling trailers, the Puma tractors' outstanding power-to-weight ratio will deliver the precise power needed for top efficiency and fuel savings. This series features less noise, a technology that is easy to use, fuel saving, durable performance and smooth shift quality for optimum performance with maximum power to the ground.
Among the best selling products in South Africa, on display at the show, was the Magnum which just celebrated its 20th anniversary and counts over 100,000 units sold worldwide. Continually setting the industry standard for comfort and visibility, Magnum tractors are known for power, reliability and ease of use. Five models are available: Case IH Magnum 215, 245, 275 and 305 and 335 from 224 to 335 hp.
The Case IH STX Quadtrac® tractor, the most powerful tractor top of the range, available at the test field, was the main attraction of the fair being the most tested by visitors.
Case IH commercializes in South Africa a wide range of tractors, from 55 to 535 hp, the JXN, JXT, JX Straddle, JX, MXU Maxxum, Magnum STX Puma Series plus its famous Axial-Flow combines, the AFX 8010, the 2388 and the 2399, the Sugar Cane series 7000, Cotton Pickers and the Patriot sprayer SPX3320.
