LUGANO, Switzerland - (September 26, 2008) - More than 100 Case IH big landed gentry and distributors coming from Kazakhstan, Ukraine and Russia participated in the Big Iron Farm Show in North Dakota, U.S. as part of an International Program developed by the North Dakota Trade Office. Case IH is a global manufacturer and seller of agricultural equipment and part of the Fiat Group (FIA.MI). The program is aimed at connecting North Dakota manufacturers, such as Case IH and its Fargo plant, with international buyers and promoting the exchange of innovative approaches to agriculture methods.
Case IH customers and distributors spent four days in North Dakota attending the Farm Show and many other organized initiatives including the celebration for the 50th anniversary of the Steiger, Case IH's flagship tractor. The program began at the Big Iron Farm Show and featured more than 800 exhibitors, along with more than 70,000 national and international visitors.
The initiative tailored for the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) customers and distributors by CNH International together with the North Dakota Trade Office (NDTO) produced positive results in terms of the sharing of best practices and pride in CNH's Fargo plant. The Fargo facility was made available during the North Dakota Trade Office's International program to customers and potential customers attending the show.
Through this collaboration with the NDTO, CNH International is interested in promoting knowledge of the company as well as supporting overseas customers to further develop their business. Roberto Valfré, Case IH Business Director for Russia, commented, "When we talk of customers from the CIS, we refer to people who work the land extensively and over a very large surface, not to mention our distributors, who cover even larger areas. It is essential that they not only be able to count on the most powerful and reliable machines but that they are able to take advantage of the best agriculture methods. Beyond the leading position of North Dakota in agricultural practices -- it leads the nation in the production of 14 major crops - climatic and environmental conditions in the state, with large plains and strong temperature ranges between summer and winter, are very similar to the ones in some areas of the CIS. So this program represented an opportunity to provide our customers the best scenario for feedback on how to further develop their business."
The guests from the CIS had the chance to participate in product seminars, training sessions and demonstrations. CIS guests were truly immersed in the Case IH spirit at the show with the Steiger 50th anniversary celebrations, which were attended by Mr. Randy Baker, Case IH CEO, and many U.S. authorities including the Secretary of Agriculture. During the event celebration, organized by Titan Machinery, the largest CNH dealer worldwide, Mr. Randy Baker gave a small talk and greeted all the attendees. Positive words also were delivered by U.S. representatives to the Case IH guests coming from the CIS.
The following day, at the CNH Fargo plant, participants were glad to verify the quality and proven expertise of the machines they use in their business and were able to participate in dedicated product sessions. The Fargo plant exports tractors above 400 horsepower to the CIS, including the Case IH STX tractor. CIS customers, with an average farm size of 40,000 hectares and distributors represent the second main customer for the Fargo plant in terms of tractor export volumes, right after the needs for the U.S. market.
