President Berdimuhamedov and Head of CNH International Mr. Fusignani to strengthen collaboration in the country's agribusiness sector

LUGANO, Switzerland - (September 26, 2009) - In the framework of the Turkmen-American business forum held in New York, USA, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, President of Turkmenistan met with Franco Fusignani, Head of CNH International SA.

The meeting between President Berdimuhamedov and Mr. Fusignani further marked the solid long-term cooperation between CNH and the Turkmen government in the agricultural equipment sector and renewed their respective commitment, one based on mutual trust and aimed at the continuing modernization of Turkmenistan's agricultural sector.

Turkmenistan's State News Agency (TDH) gave the following account of the meeting: "During the meeting the sides exchanged views on the prospects for mutually advantageous partnership to achieve the goals of the ongoing agricultural reform in Turkmenistan. Focusing on the company's keen interest in intensifying bilateral cooperation Mr. Franco Fusignani informed the Turkmen leader of the measures taken to implement the bilateral agreements. In particular, the businessman said that agricultural machines and equipment delivered to Turkmenistan had been tested in the region and met the local geographical, soil and climatic conditions.

"Thanking the American partners for such a businesslike and constructive approach to cooperation Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov underscored that the needs in high-powered machines and equipment increased due to wide-scale development of virgin lands and acceleration of the agricultural reform in the country. The President of Turkmenistan put forward several proposals on the purchase of a new consignment of agricultural machines and focused on the issues of maintenance services, expansion of the service and supply basis and training highly qualified personnel. To expand fruitful cooperation Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov invited the CEO of Case New Holland, International SA to take part in the agricultural forum, which would take place in Ashgabat this November."

Soon after Turkmenistan achieved independence, in 1991, CNH began supplying it with Case IH equipment and has continued to strengthen after sales activities and assistance to the country's farmers.

Case IH is the leading western brand in Turkmenistan, having supplied at total of nearly 3,000 units, including cotton pickers, combines and Magnum tractors.

As part of its commitment to Turkmenistan, CNH is engaged in various training initiatives, including training for local farmers to expose them to agricultural best practices, modern expertise, technological innovation as well as technical skills and resources.
