The head of Argentina’s Ministry of Industry toured the facilities where projects worth more than USD 200 million are being carried out to manufacture tractors, combines, headers and engines locally
CÓRDOBA, Argentina -- (May 9, 2012) -- “Last Wednesday, Argentina’s Minister of Industry, Débora Giorgi, visited Case New Holland’s plant, located at Fiat’s Industrial Complex in Ferreyra, Córdoba (Argentina). While there, she familiarized herself with the progress of a plant construction project that will cover 50 000 m2 and include the most modern production standards.
At the current plant, where new employees are being trained, TDF tractors up to 85 hp are already being produced for special applications, as well as New Holland’s CR9060 and Case IH´s Axial-Flow 8120 combines. This top-of-the-line equipment is characterized not only by its advanced technology but also by its low operational costs. Giorgi was very interested in the technical details of the machines and even climbed on a harvester about to leave the assembly line. In the new plant, which is under construction, production will be enhanced with other models such as New Holland’s CR 9080 and Case IH’s Axial-Flow 7120, in addition to high power (up to 220hp) T.7 (New Holland) and Puma (Case IH) tractors.
The Minister also visited FPT Industrial’s new 20 000 m2 plant, where Cursor engines up to 600 hp are manufactured and which exports 500 units per month. There, she learned the details of the future engine line and observed the machining integration area, which will create jobs requiring highly technical training.
The Minister stated that she was "very excited" about this project and appeared to be pleased with its progress. "I’ve gotten a very satisfactory impression of both the FPT engine plant and this new assembly and training for Case and New Holland combines, which is evidence that the project is doing well and within the estimated periods."
As part of the visit, the Minister also visited Fiat’s automotive plant, Iveco’s truck plant and Comau’s maintenance and machining plant.
